Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar on Tuesday requested the state government to allow them to help people get vaccinated. He shared a video on his Twitter account followed by a hashtag that says Let Congress Vaccinate (#LetCongressVaccinate).
Rasing 100 crore
In a one-minute video, the Congress leader revealed that Karnataka Congress has raised Rs 100 crore for purchasing the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Today we are all struggling without enough vaccines. Our youths, children, brothers, and sisters are dying because of this dangerous second wave and the government has exported vaccines instead of giving them to our citizens,” he said.
All Karnataka Congress MPs, MLAs, and MLCs will use their Local Area Development Fund to the tune of Rs 100 crore for procuring vaccines. The fund will be used for buying vaccines, S Shivakumar explained.
“Our all members of legislature including me and Siddaramaiah have decided to use our Local Area Development Fund to the tune of Rs 100 crore for procuring vaccines,” he informs.
Let Congress Vaccinate
Shivakumar further said that the central government has yet to permit this very special campaign.
“The Central government has not permitted them yet. By following all rules and regulations we will procure vaccines and help the citizens. Let Congress Vaccinate Karnataka,” he said.
I request Congress workers to make the people aware of how vaccination can defeat Covid, how the government has been slow in procuring vaccines, and how the Karnataka Congress has a proposal to directly procure vaccines, if only the government would let us. #LetCongressVaccinate pic.twitter.com/7dQZFzdHyZ

In another tweet, he shares about the death toll in Karnataka and says that there is an immediate need for vaccination.
“Another day when the Covid death figure of 529 in Karnataka rings loud of the despair here. Hard to even imagine the pain inflicted on the families who have lost their loved ones. The agony & apathy have to end. There is a dire need to expedite vaccination,” he tweeted.
