Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport will soon have a hospital with 150 beds.
Hospital with 150-bed
According to the sources, Fairfax Financial Holdings Group has contributed money to set up a 150-bed (COV-AID@BLR), oxygenated covid treatment centre at the city airport. It is said that the facility will be operational from May 18 onwards.
The hospital is established near the cargo terminals at the Bengaluru airport and will be outfitted to treat patients with moderate hypoxia too. Hypoxia is a state in which the body or a region of the body is denied sufficient oxygen supply.
The health centre will be provided with a pharmacy, a medicine unit, a nurses’ station, restrooms, and a dining area. There are also suitable drinking water facilities and visitors’ areas. Moreover, an ambulance will be 24 hours available, seven days a week for emergencies.

According to the reports, the facility is intended to be a transit oxygen delivery centre, which will give much-needed relief and treatment for patients who need oxygen support until they can be hospitalized.
The place also offers essential arrangements for safe waste disposal and bio-waste management.
A distinguished panel of doctors- Dr Naresh Shetty, Dr Nandakumar Jairam, and Dr Alexander Thomas will provide technical support to help the centre function easily. All the employees, including the doctors and the nurses, will be provided by the state government.
Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, a Canada-based group, has donated Rs 37 crore for covid relief in India.
