Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday afternoon. The actor, 34 years old, was found hanging at his residence in Bandra in Mumbai.
The police investigation is currently underway. The reason behind his suicide is not yet known as no suicide note has been found yet. The Chhichhore actor was reported to have been undergoing therapy for his case of depression and was also alone by himself for the duration of the lockdown.
This news comes as a shock to everyone in the country as he was also very active on his social media pages, giving viewers a glimpse into his quarantine routine, and sharing tips with his followers on how to make the most of the current lockdown scenario.
He was a space enthusiast and had often shared his fondness in the subject of astronomy. He was also in the news when he had purchased land on the moon. He also had an astronomical telescope in his patio to view his favorite celestial bodies.
Sushant, a Mechanical Engineering student at Delhi Technological University (DTU) before he dropped out, started his career as a television actor and also a background dancer in films. He starred in a breakout role in Kai Po Che, for which he was widely appreciated. He has been regarded as a promising talent in the industry since his debut in 2013.
The actor from Patna was viewed by many as one among the up and coming stars in Bollywood. His performances in many movies like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kai Po Che, and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy were well regarded.
It is also being reported that the actor was deeply affected by the suicide of his former manager, Disha Salian. The PR executive had also committed suicide when she jumped off a 14-storied building in Mumbai’s Malad area. He had expressed his utter shock upon hearing the news of her death on social media.
Fans have taken to social media sites to express their utter disbelief over the news of his demise, as the actor had very recently shared his new attempts at learning coding, as he was keenly interested in the functioning of video games.
Incidentally, his last film on the big screens- Chhichhore- was widely commended by the movie-going audience for its mature stand on dealing with failure and suicidal thoughts. May the talented actor’s soul Rest in peace.
